Any plans to go into content production?
The plans are there, but our main concern at the moment is getting the channel up and running in the main territories. Only then we will get on track on production. The likelihood is that if there is any production, it’s most likely to be short form or coproduction. We’re also very keen to try in different territories. We have worked with universities’ media students. We have shown their short films and they have had the chance to showcase to emerging filmmakers. Something we did in New Zealand that we would like to try here is to create a local identity to curate a month of film pitching where they get a chance to present.
Film festivals, documentary festivals are the types of stuff we’d get involved with in the near future to encourage local film makers. This will come back to long form and the content people are passionate about what we can find that’ll drive their interest. It is about the stories, not just a faceless documentary about anything under the sun.
One of our interests will be theatrical documentaries. It’s not popular in the region at the moment, and these theatrical docs can feature some pretty famous directors and some interesting and passionate subjects.
