India’s leading television, media and entertainment company, ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) have commissioned a first season of Armoza’s studio game show Who’s Asking?. It will air on their newly launched Hindi General Entertainment Channel &TV, and is set to be the channel’s flagship non-fiction show. Locally known as India Poochega – Sabse Shaana Kaun?, the game show will be produced by Big Synergy and is set to air daily from 2 March during the 9pm prime time slot.
The adaptation will be hosted by Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, with this game show marking his long-awaited return to the small screen following his global success as a Bollywood actor. Shah Rukh Khan was last year named the 2nd richest actor in the world, and was the only Indian actor in the top 10 combined rich list of Bollywood and Hollywood stars.
Asked how it feels to be back on TV, Shah Rukh Khan said, “I started with TV [and] I would want to give back to TV. I feel this show will help me in achieving that… I always wait for something like this. I didn’t get anything interesting till this show.” He also added about the show, “India Poochega – Sabse Shaana Kaun? is a unique game show that gives merit to the street smart ones. You might not be a scholar or a master in any field but if you are smart then this game show is for you.”
Who’s Asking? was also recently commissioned by Thailand’s Thairath TV, and the Thai adaptation is set to start airing in early March too.
Developed by Igal Shilon, Harel Josefson, Guy Wasserman, and United Studios of Israel, Who’s Asking? (60′) is the fresh game show that is not just about what questions the participants must answer, but who is asking them. Whether it is the bus driver, your doctor, or a streetwise grandma – each has a question for the contestants. In a game show where looks do matter, the contestants must follow their intuition to compete for the grand prize.
Rajesh Iyer, Business Head of &TV said, “We are excited to bring this unique international game show format to Indian screens. The concept of the show empowers the common man to determine the fate of a contestant, as they are the ones firing the questions as ‘Askers’. In addition, we have Bollywood’s superstar and the ultimate entertainer Shah Rukh Khan as the host. We are certain that the audience will enjoy a different side of their superstar and that the format will be well received.”
Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats said, “Who’s Asking? is a fresh take on the studio game show genre, with the unique question mechanic of taking questions from ordinary people on the street, making it an accessible and appealing format to all. Who’s Asking? gives the whole country the chance to have their minute of fame on TV, and we are thrilled to be taking it to a new level with ZEE’s infusion of Bollywood glamour!”
