Hong Kong – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), the operator of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, ended 2014 on a high note with its flagship Chinese movie channel Celestial Movies (CM). CM was the #1 regional movie channel in Malaysia among Astro Chinese 4+ and the #2 regional movie channel in Indonesia with all pay-TV viewers 5+ in 2014. Meanwhile, CTE’s library movie channel, Celestial Classic Movies (CCM) was the highest-rated channel among the ten new channels launched on Astro last November based on the latest available ratings.
In Malaysia, Celestial Movies was the #1 regional movie channel among Astro Chinese subscribers in 2014. Eleven years since it launched in Malaysia, the channel’s viewership continues to grow by leaps and bounds. In 2014, the channel’s viewership grew by an astonishing 62% compared to the previous year.
In Indonesia, CM was the #2 pay-TV movie channel in 2014 based on average audience ratings for all viewers 5+. Backed by output deals with five of the top Hong Kong movie studios, CM reaches more viewers than any other regional movie channel in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Celestial Classic Movies has also climbed to the top of the pack in Malaysia. Launched on Astro last November, along with eight new regional HD channels and one new SD channel, CCM is the highest-rated channel for Astro 4+ subscribers among the ten new channels based on available ratings in January 2015.
