Hiltron Promotes Latest Generation Satcom Products and Services at GoSatCom 2025 in Munich

April 4, 2025 by TVA Editor

Following a well-attended February 27th-28th GovSatCom in Luxembourg, Hiltron Communications promoted its wide range of satellite communication products, systems and related services at the March 24th-26th 2025 GoSatCom conference and exhibition. GoSatCom is a biennial event held in Munich at the Bundeswehr University. Organized by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Knopp, head of the university’s Satellite Communications Research Group, it this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.

“Like its near-namesake, GoSatCom includes a strong conference program which encourages delegates to stay for the full duration of the event,” comments Jochen Ermel, Hiltron Communications’ Managing Director. “It provides a useful venue for meetings with existing and potential customers from across the wide field of governmental telecommunications, industry and academia. The timing is also good in relation to the September IBC show in Amsterdam.”

“A notable feature of the satcom sector is the accelerating demand for Low Earth Orbit and Medium Earth Orbit networks,” adds Antonio Monteverde, Sales Director. “A key element of our GoSatCom exhibition activity was to promote the latest development in the established Hiltron HMAM range of motorized antenna mounts. HMAM-XY is designed to provide stable transmit/receive links to LEO, MEO, smallsat satellite constellations and drones as well as traditional geostationary satellites. Robustly built for outdoor use, HMAM-XY can also be installed in a radome to operate in extreme weather conditions. Parabolic reflectors and planar antennas of up to 3 meters diameter can be accommodated, operating in L, S, C, X, Ku and Ka band with circular or linear polarization.”

HMAM_XY combines fast high tracking speed and fast acceleration with precise pointing and tracking accuracy, including low backlash and full hemispheric coverage with no zenith keyhole. Tracking velocity is up to 10 degrees per second with 6 degrees per second squared maximum acceleration and within 0.05% accuracy. TLE/NORAD tracking capabilities are included and Steptrack is available as an option. Operation and supervision of the HMAM-XY are via Hiltron’s established HACU antenna control unit. Browser-based control and monitoring can be performed from any desired location via an Ethernet link connection. The control unit can be mounted on the HMAM-XY support column with local operation additionally possible via a directly connected handheld unit.

Also promoted at GoSatCom were Hiltron’s satcom system refurbishment and modernization services. Upgrading existing antennas to operate at higher frequencies as well as in the lower bands increases the total channel capacity without the need to invest in new antennas, support equipment and controllers. Hiltron is able to perform high-accuracy 3D laser scanning and evaluation of teleport antennas. This resource is far more accurate than the commonly used photogrammetry technique and can be conducted while the antenna is actually in operation.

“When refurbishing third-party systems, we are often able to achieve better-than-new performance by replacing legacy control devices with Hiltron-developed products that allow satcom systems to be controlled with maximum safety, efficiency and versatility,” Jochen Ermel summarizes.”
