Singapore – NBCUniversal International Television is strengthening its foothold in the Singapore pay-TV landscape with cable TV platform StarHub TV, reinforcing a partnership that began in 2008. Through strategic initiatives such as StarHub TV Anywhere, HD feeds and channel renumbering, the current partnership between the two companies will now go beyond traditional linear TV distribution, catering to the growing demands and consumption habits of Singapore’s pay-TV audiences.
“This strategic partnership with StarHub marks an important milestone for NBCUniversal International Television,” said Christine Fellowes, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Universal Networks International. “Singapore boasts one of the highest mobile and internet penetration rates in the world and StarHub is a key partner for us to deliver our top-rated content to the country’s highly-connected audiences.”
“Our partnership with NBCUniversal International Television has consistently delighted customers with hit programmes and compelling content,” said Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub. “With more channels being introduced on StarHub TV Anywhere, coupled with shorter windows, we can now provide the latest titles on multiple devices, heightening the viewing experience for customers.”
At present, StarHub TV has secured carriage deals for all channels in the entertainment powerhouse’s diverse, female-focused, regional portfolio – E! (home of the hottest celebrity news and entertainment), DIVA (Asia’s women’s entertainment channel), Universal Channel (the portfolio’s flagship channel, featuring character-driven dramas) and Syfy (the destination for imagination-based entertainment).
Strategic initiatives launching in Q4, 2014 are as follows:
Carriage on StarHub TV Anywhere
Creating a television experience that is truly universal, E!, Syfy and Universal Channel will launch on StarHub’s multiscreen service, StarHub TV Anywhere in end October. This 360-driven initiative enables viewers to catch their shows – such as Universal Channel’s fire rescue drama Chicago Fire (season three), magic prank show Tricked (season two) and twisted fairytale thriller Grimm (season four) – within 48 hours of their world premieres on the device of their choice.
