Singapore – Digital sports media company PERFORM has announced plans to extend its presence in Asia and to enhance its media sales offering in Southeast Asia with its own in-house sales team.
While PERFORM’s products and services have been sold successfully via third party partners over the past two years, the company has announced its decision to move its advertising sales back in-house. PERFORM now has a fully-fledged sales and advertising operations team in Asia to support agencies and fulfill the objectives of advertisers everywhere.
Initially launching in Singapore, the team will be led by Elliot Renton, Commercial Director – Southeast Asia, who will be supported by Singapore Sales Manager, Justin Lim. Further expansion into Indonesia, Malaysia and other markets is planned for 2014.
PERFORM has experienced strong revenue growth across all key areas of the business since being listed on the London Stock Exchange over two years ago. Total revenue in the Asia Pacific region for 2012 was £24.8m, a growth of 62.8% year on year. This revenue represents 16.4% of global revenue for the company. This growth confirms PERFORM’s unique position from which to capitalise on the rise of digital content consumption and digital trends across markets worldwide, including emerging markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
PERFORM’s direct to consumer strategy has been fully justified across all 26 global offices. Traffic on Asian editions of Goal, the world’s leading football media brand owned by PERFORM, has experienced massive growth. Page views on the Indonesian desktop edition have grown 555% from 9.5 million to 62.5 million from September 2011 to September 2013, while Thailand is up 520% since August 2012. Vietnam has grown 473% since November 2012 and Singapore and Malaysia have both grown over 170% since March 2012. Southeast Asian editions of Goal have seen a collective growth of 956% since September 2011, growing from 9.5 million to over 100 million page views. This strong growth in Southeast Asia contributed to the 162.4 million pages views across Asian editions of Goal in September 2013 alone.
In 2012 PERFORM’s industry leading sports video on-demand platform, ePlayer, hit 859 million streams in Asia, accounting for nearly a fifth of the five billion ePlayer streams worldwide. Furthermore, a total of 51 broadcaster and digital publisher licensees in the region deliver PERFORM’s Omnisport sports news service.
Tim Holland, Managing Director, Asia at PERFORM commented: “With our acquisition of Goal and platforms like ePlayer, PERFORM now offers a truly compelling solution for advertisers looking to reach the huge audiences consuming digital sports content every day. It is an exciting period for us, and we look forward to engaging directly with media agencies, and driving successful integrated advertising campaigns for clients in Southeast Asia.”
