New York – AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international division of AMC Networks, has announced numerous personnel appointments and the acquisition of a wide array of award winning films and acclaimed series ahead of the company’s participation at Asia Pacific Pay-TV Operators Summit (APOS) in Bali.
Courtney Williams has been appointed to the newly created position of Managing Director of Business Development and Strategy, Asia Pacific, AMC/Sundance Channel Global. In addition, Donovan Castillo-Mohlman has been named Head of Programming and Scheduling, Asia Pacific, while Lorraine Ou has been appointed Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific, AMC/Sundance Channel Global.
On the acquisitions front, the company has picked up the Academy Award-winning films Amour and the documentary Searching for Sugar Man. Amour will be made available on transactional VOD prior to the linear service premiere in a deal with Les Films du Losange. Searching for Sugar Man, which has been acquired from Protagonist, will be available on both the linear and subscription video on demand services. Both films will debut on Sundance Channel Malaysia in the coming weeks.
For Sundance Channel services across Asia, period drama Mr Selfridge (1 x 90’ + 9 x 60’) has been acquired in an exclusive premiere window rights deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The channel has also acquired exclusive premiere window rights for the British miniseries Secret State (4 x 60’) – produced by Company Pictures, from ALL3MEDIA International.
Sundance Channel will also debut several other films over the coming months in Asia, including The Unloved, Shifty, The Imposter, Faintheart, Cosmopolis and Official Story, among others. WE tv Asia will premiere numerous series over the next few months including You Deserve This House (40 x 60’), season 3 of Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best (8 x 60’), World Kitchen (6 x 60’), season 5 of My Fair Wedding With David Tutera (12 x 60’) and I Found the Gown (8 x 60’).
