All3Media International prepares to showcase an array of formats and finished shows at Asia Television Forum 2024

November 29, 2024 by TVA Editor

Leading independent distributor All3Media International is heading to the Asia Television Forum & Market in Singapore to present a diverse slate of formats and scripted formats, alongside star-studded dramas and thrillers, premium documentaries, entertainment hits and natural history programming from genre-leading producers.

From the distributor’s premium factual portfolio, is the anticipated feature documentary Becoming Madonna (1 x 1½ hr, Optomen for Sky Documentaries, UK). This immersive documentary special charts Madonna’s rise to super-stardom through a rich mix of rare, unseen or unheard audio and visual archive. Produced by Nutopia, world leaders in premium docudramas, for Fox Nation, US, Jesus: Crown of Thorns (4 x 1 hr) brings to life the story of one of the most significant figures in history, combining action-packed, character-led drama with a rigorous historical underpinning. And 72 Films’ Trump: The Criminal Conspiracy Case (1 x 1½ hr), which recently debuted on the BBC in the UK to wide acclaim, follows the biggest criminal case against Donald Trump, offering a front-row seat to the investigation.

More factual entertainment content from global superstar chef Gordon Ramsay features on All3Media International’s slate. Two new seasons of Kitchen Nightmares(USA) and a new season of Future Food Stars Australia join the distributor’s catalogue of Gordon Ramsay content.

A host of new natural history content will be available to buyers, including two premium documentaries from genre-leading producer Silverback Films. Filmed for the BBC over a three-year period across six continents, Parenthood (5 x 1 hr) reveals incredible stories of devotion, ingenuity and sacrifice as animal parents go to extreme lengths to ensure the survival of their offspring. In David Attenborough: Ocean (1 x 1½ hr), audiences are taken on a journey of wonder through the planet’s most spectacular undersea habitats as Sir David Attenborough exposes the biggest problems facing our oceans and shares how there is an opportunity for marine life to recover on a scale no one alive has ever seen before.

Wild Winter and Predator Countdown, two new natural history series from Wildbear Entertainment, will also make their ATF debut. Wild Winter (4 x 1 hr), produced for France 5, introduces viewers to the incredible animals that not only survive but, in many cases, thrive in seemingly uninhabitable sub-zero climates, while Predator Countdown (4 x 1 hr), produced for RTL, Germany, journeys across Africa, Australia, North America and South America to witness the raw power and tenacity of nature’s most remarkable predators.

All3Media International’s scripted formats have already achieved significant success in Asia. Kafas, the award-winning Indian adaptation of The Forge’s Dark Money, streamed on SonyLiv and recently secured ‘Best Scripted Format’ at C21’s 2024 International Format Awards, adding to its ‘Best TV Format Adaptation (Scripted) in Asia’ award at the 2024 ContentAsia Awards. Marzi, the Indian version of Two Brothers Pictures’ thriller Liar, aired on Voot in India, with the second season of Mithya, based on Two Brothers Pictures thriller Cheat recently returned to ZEE 5. Additional scripted format successes include a 30 episodes commission of Miss S, a Chinese adaptation of Every Cloud Productions’ much-loved period detective drama Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. The series was commissioned by Tencent and aired on HBO Asia across 29 territories, HBO in the US as well as travelling to Canada, Australia, Japan and Korea.

The drama slate will be headlined by critically acclaimed ratings sensation The Gold, a gripping crime caper inspired by the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery. Featuring a star-studded cast, including Hugh Bonneville and Dominic Cooper, The Gold – produced by Tannadice Pictures and Objective Fiction for BBC One, UK – will return soon with a second 6 x 1 hr season delving into the decades-long aftermath of the historic crime. Also making their ATF debut are Critical Incident (6 x 1 hr, Matchbox Pictures for Stan, Australia), a contemporary crime drama delving into the complex world of policing, and Joan (6 x 1 hr, Snowed-In Productions for ITV, UK, in association with The CW), a powerful female story inspired by the life of the UK’s most notorious jewel thief, starring Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones).

Global format phenomenon The Traitors* will showcase at ATF, with All3Media International looking to build on recent successes in the region. These include format deals in India, where a local adaptation will be produced by BBC Studios India Productions for Prime Video, and in Korea, where adaptation rights have been signed by Luyworks Media and Something Special. Also featuring in the formats portfolio is The Anonymous – originally created by Studio Lambert and recently launched on NBC Universal’s USA Network – a brand-new strategic reality competition played in two worlds: the real world and anonymous mode.

Scripted formats on the ATF slate include Step Dave, the South Pacific Pictures’ comedy drama that has already been adapted in Hungary, Poland, Ukraine and Greece, and Accused, RSJ Films’ acclaimed drama that recently returned for series two on FOX in the US and won multiple International Emmy Awards for its original UK version.

Sabrina Duguet, EVP Asia Pacific at All3Media International, commented, “2024 has proved to be a fantastic year in Asia, with The Traitors travelling to India and Korea as well as the continued success of our scripted formats across the region. ATF is always an important event in our market calendar, and we’re looking forward to presenting another exciting slate packed with unmissable premium titles. Whether buyers are looking for proven scripted and unscripted formats to adapt locally or acclaimed finished series such as star-studded drama Joan and powerful natural history narrated by the globally renowned Sir David Attenborough, our portfolio offers a wide, multi-genre selection to suit all tastes, requirements, and target audiences.”

*With 30 international versions commissioned around the world , this ultimate game of deception, skill and trust was created and developed by Marc Pos and IDTV Creative Director Jasper Hoogendoorn in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit.
