Australia is getting its own version of the baking series The Great Bake Off. BBC Worldwide announced it has licensed the Love Productions format to Australian commercial broadcaster Nine Network.
The Great Australian Bake Off will be produced in house for transmission in primetime.
Nine Network’s series will see a selection of bakers from across Australia endeavouring to impress the judges with their creativity and baking expertise in a tense and dramatic competition which could see collapsed cakes served up alongside perfect pavlovas.
The original series The Great British Bake Off premiered in the UK on BBC Two in August 2010 and a second series finished broadcasting in November 2011 where it ranked first in its time slot. Spin off shows have already included Junior Bake Off and a celebrity version for the BBC charity Sport Relief.
