Kuala Lumpur – For the fourth consecutive year, MTV World Stage will be hosted by Malaysia, as a collaboration between The Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Viacom International Media Networks. MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2012, which will feature crowd-pullers like Justin Bieber and Jay Park, will place Malaysia on the global map as a hub of Southeast Asian music festivals, and will increase brand presence among the younger generation in the country, said Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB Zulkefli Haji Sharif.
The event will be produced into a two-hour TV show which will premiere on MTV‘s Southeast Asia channel on 28 July. An hour-long version will also be broadcast later in the year which will reach an international audience of almost 600 million households through MTV’s global network of 60 channels in over 150 territories.
On the day of the show, MTV will be using photo sharing app Instagram and Twitter to engage audiences. Fans can upload photos taken at the event onto Instagram with the hashtag #worldstagemy and MTV will showcase the best photos on the screens at Surf Beach. Audiences can also follow the hashtag #worldstagemy on Twitter and do their own live reporting of the event.
Other crowd favourites like Mizz Nina and Kara will also be performing, said Indra Suharjono, EVP/Managing Director Asia of Viacom International Media Networks, which comprises many popular multimedia entertainment brands, including MTV, Nickelodeon and BET.
