Singapore – Hybrid cloud solutions are the key to seamless content exchanges delivered with optimal benefits at lower risks between content providers and TV broadcasters.
At the cloud broadcasting session on Day 2 of the conference, Signiant CTO Ian Hamilton explained to TV ASIA Plus that hybrid cloud content exchange is a combination of both public and private cloud infrastructures, leveraging upon the benefits of the two solutions. Public clouds broker logical B2B connectivity, simplify deployment and offer an On-Demand infrastructure. Private clouds are cost effective at scale, allow fast and direct transfer, and provide improved security.
The hybrid cloud content exchange system “augments robust private content exchange with cloud file sharing simplicity”, he added.
Speaking at the second half of the session was Tata Communications’ Head of GMES Sameer Kanse, who introduced three other cloud categories – the consumer cloud, creators cloud and infrastructure cloud. Each confers different benefits such as user customisation (consumer), streamlined workflows (creators) and media processing and distribution (infrastructure).
But for the full potential of the medium to be realised, Kanse noted that a mindset shift first has to occur as the cloud is not about cost-optimisation but revenue-generation. The initial investment, while costly, will reap great financial reward in the long run.
