Taipei – Taiwan’s second-largest telecom operator, Taiwan Mobile Co. plans to venture into the entertainment industry, moving toward a digital convergence model that would combine communications, cable TV and entertainment, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News quoted company president Harvey Chang as saying. Chang had made the remarks in an interview with the Chinese Television System (CTS). He said Taiwan Mobile will focus on producing quality entertainment programs and could eventually branch out into other sectors. Founded in 1997, Taiwan Mobile Co. was the first private telecommunications company in Taiwan to go public and the first wireless operator to launch WCDMA 3G services.
