Seoul – The Korea Communications Commission fined TV network MBC W715 million for improper advertising and failure to submit adequate documentation, reports The Chosun Ilbo. Examining the drama, Heart of Destiny, which was aired from October 2007 to April 2008, the agency said that it will impose a total W679.5 million in fine (or W5 million per episode) on the drama for 138 violations of sponsorship notification rules stipulated by broadcasting law through indirect advertising. By announcing sponsorship of programs, broadcasters promote the names of companies that provide funds and materials for a drama. It is only allowed for independent productions, and strictly banned for terrestrial broadcasters or their subsidiaries. The commission also fined MBC a total of W35 million (W5 million per episode), for failing to submit proper documentation.
