PSI Broadcasting stays ahead of the game with PlayBox Neo MultiPlayout channel and branding systems

November 29, 2024 by TVA Editor

South East Asia’s leading broadcaster and playout service provider, PSI Broadcasting, extends its facilities with the purchase of PlayBox Neo’s MultiPlayout Manager for integration, including the latest updates to its Channel-in-a-Box HD servers. The Channel-in-a Box (CIAB) server upgrades incorporate the comprehensive PlayBox Neo suite that includes AirBox Neo-20 playout software, TitleBox Neo-20 graphics and Capture Suite ingest management.

PSI Broadcasting is a PSI Group company, providing 24-hour television playout and monitoring services via Thaicom Satellites from its headquarters in Bangkok. In addition to TV Direct, channels using the PSI platform includes TV Satellites channel in APAC country.  PSI Broadcasting manages these third-party networks as a host using their own HD TV station which is solely dependent on the extensive playout system exclusively anchored to PlayBox Neo servers.

The CIAB systems include full access to all of the latest software updates across the entire product range giving PSI Broadcasting the advantage of reacting fast to file format or interface protocol changes that might arise. AirBox Neo-20 allows media files to be combined into a single transmission playlist. TitleBox Neo-20 provides total control of titling, graphics generation and text management in advance of transmission and live on-air. PlayBox Neo’s Capture Suite enables television station management staff to control multiple ingest channels across multiple servers via a single graphic interface. PlayBox Neo’s MultiPlayout Manager (MPM) allows multiple AirBox Neo-20 channels to be operated via IP remotely from any network-connected location, anywhere in the world.

“At PSI Broadcasting, we manage a vast number of customers, many of which are internationally based. In order to support each client proficiently, it involves entrusting in a competent robust playout system on the PSI side, as well as on the client’s side, in order to require remote access from their premises,” outlines Rattana Taipong, head of broadcast engineering at PSI Broadcasting.

“We were looking to find the most efficient way of controlling remote access online, and the system we chose in the end to fulfil this complex task is MultiPlayout Manager from PlayBox Neo. MPM covers all our bases as it allows us to conduct multiple playouts in one server and at the same time, allowing multiple clients to access and control their playout too. It has been the best decision for us to integrate MPM to our system. The PlayBox Neo Thailand office provided us with an outstanding installation and implementation service which entailed setting up the PSI domain name, user rights access by the client company to playout, and so forth. The MPM has been helpful in every way for channel management, and not just for playout, but to also manage playlists and monitoring.”

Nut Deesamer, director of PlayBox Neo’s Thailand branch adds, “We cherish the long standing relationship we enjoy with PSI Broadcasting and appreciate the loyalty that exists between our companies. We worked with them directly once again during the installation phase of this latest system expansion and provided training on the recently introduced MultiPlayout Manager. The control features accessible within the MPM include on-the-fly playlist changes, manual triggering of events, user-configurable presets for pushbutton access to logos, IP router control and subsidiary tools such as graphics and text control. User management permissions can be assigned at various levels from viewer to administrator. A built-in web-based playlist editor allows users to create future playlists. Media files can be drag-and-drop moved from library to playlist or processed into multiple folders with customised metadata settings, such as category and folder colour. A supervisor can also customise the MPM user interface with an organisation’s or channel’s logo. It is an honour to play a role in helping with PSI Broadcasting’s ongoing expansion, and we continue to offer support for many years to come.”

“We consider PlayBox Neo’s Channel-in-a-Box and MultiPlayout Manager platforms as world-class playout and channel branding systems. We continue to rely on PlayBox Neo technology as it has proven to be consistent and steadfast over the years.” Rattana Taipong confirmed.

Supporting single channel or multichannel HD or UHD within a single standalone server, PlayBox Neo provides literally everything a broadcaster needs to maintain a highly successful channel on-air and ensures smooth performances across every area such as ingest, scheduling, ad insertion, text manipulation, interactive graphics, playout, content distribution and transmission. Remotely accessible tools to enhance preparation, quality control and content monitoring are included. The entire process can be fully automated while retaining the ability to go live as required.
