London – Zeal Entertainment, distributor of formats and events programming, part of the Digital Rights Group (DRG), will offer environmental awareness format The Power Play at MIPTV. The Power Play challenges two cities to reduce CO2 emissions and simultaneously save money. Over six weekly episodes, teams from both cities are pit against each other in a series of environmental challenges culminating in a studio-based grand final. Created by NRK and Mediacircus, Zeal Entertainment has international format rights, excluding Norway, for the show. The city teams consist of a family, a company, the city’s football team and its mayor, taking on challenges including minimizing use of electricity, reducing consumption and devising transport solutions. Contestants are assessed throughout the competition by experts on The Climate Panel, a researcher calculating their CO2 emissions and a group of students. Each episode is interspersed with factual reports on climate change and tips on a ‘greener’ lifestyle.
