According to Reuters, Star India was awarded the broadcast rights for the 2014 winter Olympics and 2016 summer Games for seven South Asian countries, including India and Pakistan, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said. Australia’s Ten Network Holdings has announced that it has signed an agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to broadcast the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, in 2014. CCTV buys Chinese Olympic rights through 2016
London – The IOC said China Central Television (CCTV) has acquired broadcast rights to each Olympics in the next four-year cycle leading to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. This latest deal, covering all broadcast platforms, includes its home 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, hosted in Nanjing. Hong Kong FTA channels will air the Olympics
Hong Kong – Free-to-air channels TVB and ATV have reached an agreement to pay i-Cable an undisclosed amount to broadcast 200 hours of Olympic events, including the opening and closing ceremonies. Commerce Secretary Gregory So Kam-leung said i-Cable, TVB and ATV worked out a deal after seven hours of closed-door discussions.
