Athens – TV broadcasting revenues paid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for rights to the 2008 Beijing Olympics topped US$2.5billion in the 2005-2008 period, while worldwide sponsorship, ticketing and licensing added a further US$900million in revenues. Hong Kong/Doha – Al Jazeera English debuted Wednesday on Hong Kong’s now TV, the IPTV unit of telco Pacific Century Cyberworks. China Netcom to expand IPTV trial service in 2008
Fixed-line operator China Netcom is looking to expand its IPTV trial service to 10 or more new Chinese cities later in 2008, adding to trials currently being conducted in six cities.
