Asia Pacific leads IPTV equipment sales with 48% of revenues in Q2
Asia Pacific led worldwide sales of IPTV equipment in the second quarter of this year, accounting for 48% of all revenue, according to Infonetics Research. Its report, IPTV Equipment, Services, Subscribers and Capex, found that worldwide sales of IPTV equipment reached US$562.4 million in the second quarter of this year, up 33% from the previous quarter. SK Telecom nabs 38% stake in Hanaro Telecom
Seoul – Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has acquired a 38.89% stake in Korean telco Hanaro Telecom, which operates the successful Hana TV IPTV service. SK Telecom acquired the stake for a reported KRW 1,087bn (US$1.18 billion); the deal is subject to government approval.
