Singapore – After failing to strike a deal with ESPN STAR Sports, StarHub has opted to produce its own Football Channel to air English Premier League soccer. ABS-CBN profit grew 77% in the first half of 2007
Manila- ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., the Philippines’ largest broadcaster, posted a 77% year-on-year increase in net income to P739 million ($US16.4 million) for the first half of 2007 on the back of improving advertising and subscription-based businesses. Seven loses court case against News, PBL and Foxtel
Sydney- The Federal Court has rejected the Seven Network's court action alleging anti-competitive conduct caused the demise of its C7 pay TV sports service in 2002. Seven had sought damages from News Limited, Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd, and Foxtel, among others. Justice Ron Sackville described the legal costs incurred by the parties of "A$200 million (US$175.2 million) and counting" as bordering on the "scandalous." Costs will be determined in September.
