Singapore – MediaCorp has won three World Medals at the 2011 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. The winning entries are programmes that were produced for and telecast on Channel NewsAsia, Channel 5, okto and a documentary produced for the international market by Caldecott Productions International (CPI). It picked up two Silver World Medals: One for Listen To The Mountain Sages in the documentary category (produced by Caldecott Productions International) and the other for Asia’s Monarchies – Japan, the Channel NewsAsia documentary (in the History & Society category). A Bronze World Medal was awarded in the Cultural Issues category for Almost Famous – Close-up For The Kathoey, another Channel NewsAsia production. MediaCorp also took home 10 Finalist Certificates, the majority of which went to Channel NewsAsia productions, including the series Designed By Love: India (episodes one and four); Earth Hour; Saving Gaia: The Man Who Built His Own Glaciers; If Food Runs Out; Frontline: Help! My Son Is Hyperactive!; and Get Rea!: Illegal Sex Drugs. Also awarded Finalist Certificates were okto for the documentary Food Nation, and Channel 5 for the drama The Pupil. The New York Festivals was established 54 years ago, and its TV & Film Awards recognise the “World’s Best Work” in news, sports, documentary, information and entertainment programme as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots and others.
