Australia – Once Upon A Time premiered on Australia’s Channel Seven on Tuesday night with 1.4 million viewers, making it the No. 1 most-watched show of the night. It is now the No. 2 US drama series of 2012, behind Revenge.
From master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost, Tron: Legacy), Once Upon A Time invites audiences to brace themselves for a modern fairytale. Starring Jennifer Morrison from House as Emma Swan, the main character, this new series is from the US ABC Studios, and brings well-known characters from fairytales into the modern world.
The debut episode ranked No. 1 in the timeslot, ahead of Channel Nine’s The Big Bang Theory and Channel Ten’s Masterchef Australia/Bikie Wars: Here & Now by +28% and +32% respectively. The new series has also improved the timeslot for Channel Seven with a +28% uplift of total viewership compared to the prior four-week average.
Kitsis and Horowitz, the creators, are its executive producers as well. Steve Pearlman, from ABC’s V, is also an executive producer.
