Adapated from Mobao Feibao’s novel of the same name, modern romance series Road Home starring Jing Boran and Seven Tan premiered on iQIYI on White Valentine’s Day. This time, the two donned high school uniforms, bringing back memories of Seven Tan’s iconic role in Go Ahead , showing off her versatility in acting as a high school student.
Jing Boran on the other hand revealed on Weibo that he was convinced to take on the role just because of two lines in the script which were “Did you like me 10 years ago? Do you still love me 10 years later? Well, I still do” as he felt that it was the most romantic way he could confess his love amongst all the roles he had ever taken on. The series has also secured its spot as the second most popular series ever since its premiere.
Road Home tells the story of first loves Lu Yanchen (starring Jing Boran), a policeman in the EOD Swat team and Gui Xiao (starring Seven Tan), an investment director who were separated for years. When Gui Xiao and her friend found their car stolen, she immediately called Lu Yanchen for help after recalling that he was in the area too. Despite losing contact for 8 years, Lu Yanchen appeared right after the call and it was obvious they still had feelings for each other.
Road Home gained much attention even before it was launched and the trailer was even said to have given the original work enough justice. When the launch date was announced last week, the reservations on iQIYI even exceeded 4 million! Seven Tan’s “Ex lover” Bai Jingting helped with the promotion of the series when the launch date was first announced. Having known Seven Tan since 2015 when filming for The Whirlwind Girl and then acting as a couple in 2021 for Our New Era and also forming a “couple” with his close friend Jing Boran after shooting for a variety show together, Bai Jingting’s support for both his “exes” was definitely well received!
Road Home, adapted from famous author Mobao Feibao’s novel of the same name, took on the role as the series’ script writer as well. The series follows the story of an investment director, Gui Xiao (starring Seven Tan) who meets her first love, special force policeman, Lu Yanchen (starring Jing Boran) again after 10 years of being apart. They were each other’s first love but all that changed when Lu Yanchen left their city for the police school and Gui Xiao experienced family problems and breaking up became the only solution. When the two reunited 8 years later, a simple “I would have recognised you even if you turned into ashes” made the two realise they still held a soft spot for each other.
