AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS (AFV) celebrates its 24th anniversary in fall 2013.
After the ABC Network (Disney/ABC) began airing AFV in 1989, the show became the longest-running primetime entertainment programme in the 60-year history of the ABC network in the autumn of 2006.
The show is produced by Vin Di Bona, four-time Emmy award-winning producer and recipient of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award, under licence from TBS. In partnership with TBS’s exclusive format and variety programme agent Bellon Entertainment, AFV stands as the most successful Japanese format to date, according to TBS. The show became part of history in 2009 when The Smithsonian Institution selected the show for inclusion into their permanent entertainment collections.
The shows are produced using only American staff and cast, with Japanese original clips occasionally airing.
