Beyond Distribution will launch two new CBBC tween series, Hero Squad and Absolute Genius with Dick & Dom, at MIP Junior. The first ten-part series of Hero Squad and Absolute Genius will launch in October, with a second series for each confirmed to follow in early 2014.
In Absolute Genius with Dick & Dom (10 x 30’), the comedy duo look at the geniuses that invented or created something that helped make our world what it is, while attempting to come up with their own genius ideas. It is fun and entertaining, yet the show aims to educate and introduce audiences to a diverse range of historical figures.
In Hero Squad (10 x 30’), six children get the chance to become heroes as they undergo a rigorous training programme alongside real life-savers. In just 48 hours, the Hero Squad cadets have to learn skills and techniques in order to cope with a “real life” rescue scenario alongside the emergency and rescue services.
Yvonne Body, Head of Acquisitions for Beyond Distribution, commented, “Beyond already successfully represents a number of shows produced by independents for CBBC. We are now delighted to be working directly with CBBC Production for the first time withAbsolute Genius With Dick & Dom and Hero Squad. Absolute Genius is another outing for popular CBBC hosts Dick and Dom that is a fun, entertaining take on science and history. I had heard a number of producers and broadcasters citing Hero Squad as a perfect example of the new trend for experiential children’s shows, so am especially proud that we are now bringing it to the world”.
