Shanghai- This year’s Shanghai Television Festival saw Singapore’s MediaCorp unveil several ventures as its strengthens ties with Chinese broadcasters. MediaCorp announced it’s teaming again with CCTV to stage the eighth annual International Inter-Varsity Debate, an event which has attracted participants from across the region as well as the U.S., Canada and the Middle East. MediaCorp’s news and current affairs arm indicated it will produce more long-form features and documentaries on subjects such as the city of Changzhou in Jiangsu province. Going beyond co-production, MediaCorp is marketing and distributing ‘made-in-China’ productions in regional and international markets. MediaCorp Studios unveiled its latest offering, A Mobile Love Story. According to Chang Long Jong, Deputy CEO, MediaCorp (Television), a number of period costume dramas have been produced and exported in the last few years, but a new trend has emerged in China as modern dramas are being encouraged.
