Paris- Russia Today, an English-language news and information channel carrying political, business, and entertainment news from Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, has launched in Asia via Globecast’s full-time fibre delivery. GlobeCast is delivering Russia Today’s feed from its London Technical Operations Centre via its newly-upgraded fibre network to the teleport in Singapore. The signal is then sent through fibre to Hong Kong for uplink by Pacific Century Matrix (PCM) to its platform on the AsiaSat3S satellite. This Asian launch is the latest in the channel’s expansion of its broadcast footprint. GlobeCast is already delivering Russia Today worldwide, on the ASTRA satellite for DTH over Europe, on NSS-806 for Latin American, and on EUROBIRD for the Sky platform in the UK and Ireland. The channel currently reaches more than 100 million pay-TV viewers in Europe, North America and South Africa. It’s also available live, 24 hours daily on the Internet.
