Singapore – MediaCorp’s websites have been awarded the most popular websites in their respective categories based on the number of visits at the annual local Hitwise Online Performance Awards. Regional news channel Channel NewsAsia’s website (www.channelnewsasia.com) won for Entertainment-Television, children’s programming belt Kids Central of MediaCorp TV12 Central channel saw its site (www.kidscentral.sg) took the top prize for the Lifestyle-Children Sites category, and MediaCorp Radio’s site (www.mediacorpradio.sg) notched the Entertainment-Radio award. All three sites have clinched the kudos for three consecutive years since the awards’ inception. Hitwise kudos recognize excellence in online performance through public popularity, and encompass a variety of industries. Results of the Hitwise Online Performance are based on the number of visits to a website within the industry in a year by 1.5million Singapore Internet users visiting over 9,300 Singapore websites. Separately, MediaCorp has launched the MediaCorp EasyReader digital platform to provide news and entertainment updates online or offline. The free downloadable software application software was created from the partnership between MediaCorp, E-Books System and Microsoft. A first in Asia, the application is similar to the Reader software available for New York Times.
