Cannes, France – Malaysia-based Peppermint Productions will complete a one-hour fairy-tale documentary, The Magic of Santa by year-end with Freberg Productions of Sweden. The Magic of Santa (1 x 47 minutes), currently in its final stages of editing, was shot in HD and will include a multitude of specially crafted special effects. Also in production and due for completion by 2010 is wildlife series, Ollie & Friends (26 episodes x 30 minutes or 130 episodes x 5 minutes). Also, Malaysian-based Purple Houz Sdn Bhd has confirmed a contract with Strika Entertainment for music scoring, composition, sound design and voice over for animated series, Supa Strikas, to be done in Malaysia. Supa Strika is aired on Malaysia’s RTM2 and broadcasted on ESPN STAR Sports to an estimated 500 million viewer base around the globe. The series revolves around a football team called ‘Supa Strika’ that travels the world and competes with different teams from different countries. And Euro 3 million initiatives between Malaysian-based Animasia Studio and renowned Chinese animation producer Agogo Corporation Ltd were sealed – further strengthening MSC Malaysia’s position as a regional digital content player. The projects consisting of servicing contracts, co- development of IPs and joint distribution for worldwide markets, are set to kick off middle of 2009 and will keep both studios busy for the next 24 months. The projects will be broadcast by international networks and prominent European networks. Animasia is also targeting to employ and train more Malaysian talent to be able to handle the paperless technique and estimates that this partnership will be able to create and maintain between 80-100 jobs for the upcoming 2 years.
