Singapore – Today sees StarHub launch a new service, named KaraOK!, encompassing an extensive library of up to 30,000 music videos in various languages. 5,000 karaoke videos will be made available from launch with about 100 videos being added on a weekly basis. KaraOK! will comprise more than ten song categories such as ‘Latest Songs’ and ‘Cantonese Songs’ featuring original karaoke hits by leading singers like international stars Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, Chinese artistes A*Mei, Jacky Cheung and Emil Chau, as well as local talents Stefanie Sun and Tanya Chua. Six additional categories including Tamil/Hindi, Japanese, Thai and Filipino songs will be progressively introduced. StarHub TV customers can choose to subscribe to KaraOK! either on a monthly or daily basis for S$10 ($10.70 with GST) per month. StarHub also announced its acquisition of a wide variety of new content for its VOD platform. It has sealed a deal with Paramount Pictures offering some latest movies about six months from theatrical release. StarHub also has new deal with Comcast International Media Group (CIMG) to offer TV specials from E! And new Hot & Haunted category of content rated ‘16′ or ‘18′ was added to StarHub’s VOD line-up on 15 January 2010. This category will feature movies and series covering horror, gore, sex and violence. StarHub will work with TVB to offer popular TVB classic dramas on its VOD platform. It also sealed a VOD content deal with Celestial Movies and titles will be offered in dual Cantonese-Mandarin dual sound whenever the option is available. And a new deal with MD Entertainment will enable the pay TV operator to offer over 1,000 hours of content per year from the producer of award-winning and highly rated Indonesian sinetron (soap opera).
