ReelShort, the global vertical micro‑drama platform operated by Crazy Maple Studio, has secured one of Southeast Asia’s most extensive digital distribution footprints through partnerships with Singtel in Singapore, Telkomsel in Indonesia, Globe in the Philippines and AIS in Thailand. Together, these four markets represent close to 70% of Southeast Asia’s population, creating a powerful regional network for mobile‑first entertainment.
The latest launches on Singtel CAST in Singapore and Telkomsel in Indonesia build on partnerships established with AIS in Thailand in April 2026 and Globe in the Philippines in June. In just six months, ReelShort has expanded across Singtel and three of its regional associates — Telkomsel, Globe and AIS — forming a unified distribution corridor across four of Southeast Asia’s most influential mobile markets.
“Our Southeast Asia strategy is precise, data‑driven and focused on markets where mobile entertainment is accelerating fastest,” said Joey Jia, Founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, owner of ReelShort. “Indonesia gives us unmatched scale, the Philippines delivers the region’s most engaged mobile users, and Thailand is Southeast Asia’s highest‑ARPU mobile market. Singapore, meanwhile, is the region’s premium digital hub. Securing distribution across Singtel, Telkomsel, Globe and AIS within six months positions ReelShort at the centre of Southeast Asia’s next wave of digital entertainment growth.”
Vertical Drama Goes Mainstream
ReelShort’s rapid regional expansion comes as vertical micro‑dramas shift from an emerging format to a mainstream category. Southeast Asia is proving particularly receptive. Media Partners Asia (MPA) reports micro‑drama consumption in Thailand grew 56% year‑on‑year, while the ReelShort–AIS partnership has surpassed 8 million subscriptions. MPA projects the wider ex‑China micro‑drama market to grow from US$2.7 billion in 2025 to US$3.6 billion in 2026, reaching US$9.5 billion by 2031.
Industry Recognition
ReelShort’s momentum is also being recognised across the industry. At the 2026 ContentAsia Awards, the platform’s Korean vertical drama Twenty: Love Shuffle (트웬티: 첫사랑 체인지) earned Gold for Best Vertical Video Series Made in Asia (Shortform) — a milestone that reinforces ReelShort’s leadership in shaping the region’s fast‑growing vertical drama category.
The accolade highlights ReelShort’s commitment to premium storytelling and its role in elevating micro‑dramas into a mainstream entertainment format embraced across Southeast Asia.
Four Markets, Built for Scale
ReelShort’s Southeast Asia strategy targets markets with distinct advantages in scale, engagement and monetisation:
-
Indonesia — Telkomsel, the country’s largest operator, reaches more than 150 million subscribers.
-
Philippines — Globe provides access to approximately 67 million highly engaged subscribers.
-
Singapore — Singtel and Singtel CAST offer a premium digital entertainment market and a strategic regional hub.
-
Thailand — AIS, the country’s highest‑ARPU and most profitable operator, reaches approximately 47 million subscribers.
Together, these operators represent more than 275 million mobile connections. Singtel’s ownership stakes in Telkomsel, Globe and AIS create a powerful, interconnected distribution network across four of Southeast Asia’s most important markets.
“With more than 150 million customers and a deep understanding of Indonesia’s diverse digital lifestyles, Telkomsel is well positioned to bring world-class entertainment closer to more people across the country. As the first digital telecommunications service provider in Indonesia to establish a direct partnership with ReelShort, we are opening practical and convenient access to its distinctive mobile-first stories. This collaboration reflects our commitment to serving wholeheartedly by continuously creating greater value and more meaningful digital experiences for every Indonesian,” said Kemas M. Fadhli, Vice President of Digital Lifestyle at Telkomsel.
“Filipinos have always embraced stories that fit into the rhythm of daily life, and short-form drama is now a meaningful part of that entertainment habit, which is why Globe is proud to be the first telco in the Philippines to partner with ReelShort,” said KD Dizon, Chief Marketing Officer of Globe. “By making world-class short-form content more accessible and affordable, we’re giving Filipinos more ways to see stories that feel close to home, while creating new value for the way they discover and enjoy entertainment every day.”
The four partnerships were brokered by AR Global Media Network, ReelShort’s exclusive Southeast Asia distribution representative.
With its rapid expansion across four strategic markets and partnerships with leading regional mobile operators, ReelShort is positioning vertical drama at the centre of Southeast Asia’s next wave of digital entertainment growth.
