As Indonesian audiences increasingly embrace short-form entertainment, Vidio, Indonesia’s leading OTT streaming platform, is expanding its entertainment ecosystem through a partnership with ReelShort, the world’s leading short-form drama platform. Recognized for its highly engaging, binge-driven storytelling in bite-sized 60-90 second episodes, ReelShort will be available on Vidio starting on September 1 through the dedicated Short Drama tab for subscribers on the TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra, and Ultimate packages. The offering brings hundreds of titles across popular genres including romance, billionaire romance, fantasy, and family drama, with a wide selection of titles available with Indonesian dubbing and subtitles.
The collaboration goes beyond expanding Vidio’s content catalogue, bringing ReelShort’s global short-drama storytelling expertise into Indonesia’s growing entertainment ecosystem while making the format more accessible to local audiences. As part of the initial rollout, more than 200 titles will be fully dubbed in Indonesian, while the partnership will also see a sizable slate of short drama series co-produced with Indonesian production houses to be made available across both platforms. The collaboration also creates opportunities for Indonesian creative talent to gain production expertise and knowledge from ReelShort’s global short-drama experience. Together, the partnership combines global content scale, local production capabilities, skill transfer, and deeper localization, reinforcing Vidio’s position as a platform for the next generation of entertainment in Indonesia.
This partnership, brokered by AR Global Media Network, marks an important step in ReelShort’s continued expansion across Southeast Asia, following its recent launches through strategic partnerships with AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines. This collaboration provides ReelShort with a significant new distribution platform in Indonesia, one of Asia-Pacific’s largest and fastest-growing markets for short-form drama, while strengthening Vidio’s offering in the rapidly growing short-form drama category, bringing ReelShort’s proven expertise, engaging content and global reach to Indonesian audiences.
According to recent data from Media Partners Asia (MPA), ReelShort currently leads the short-form drama market with an estimated 29% global market revenue share, highlighting its strong market momentum and reinforcing its position at the forefront of the rapidly expanding global short-form drama industry.
The addition of ReelShort also enriches Vidio’s Short Drama catalogue, which has been part of the platform since last year, while expanding the variety of short-form stories available to subscribers. This reflects Vidio’s continued efforts to evolve with changing viewing habits and offer audiences more ways to enjoy entertainment. Alongside world-class sports, live TV streaming, licensed content, and Vidio Original Series, the expanded short-form drama offering strengthens Vidio’s diverse entertainment ecosystem and its commitment to delivering content that remains relevant to Indonesian audiences. In Q2 2026, Vidio reached 5.8 million paid subscribers across Southeast Asia, ranking third regionally and establishing Vidio as one of the region’s platforms with significant subscriber growth.
MPA data also shows that Indonesia has emerged as Asia-Pacific’s largest market for short-form drama consumption, accounting for 39% of the region’s total audience. Data released by mobile advertising company Mintegral also shows that short-form drama apps have recorded 50%–200% quarterly growth since Q3 2023, reflecting a broader shift toward bite-sized, mobile-first storytelling. This growing demand is also reflected in Vidio’s audience, as micro dramas gain momentum and become an increasingly relevant part of everyday viewing habits.
“Vidio continues to evolve alongside the changing ways Indonesians consume entertainment. As audiences increasingly look for content that fits seamlessly into their daily lives, we want to ensure they can find every type of entertainment they love on a single platform, from live sports, local originals, global entertainment to now, the rapidly growing format of short dramas. Our partnership with ReelShort not only responds to this emerging audience demand but also strengthens Vidio’s position as Indonesia’s most comprehensive entertainment platform, offering more choice, greater convenience, and an even richer viewing experience for our subscribers,” said Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio.
Joey Jia, Founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, owner of ReelShort, said, “Our partnership with Vidio marks a significant milestone in ReelShort’s Southeast Asia growth strategy and reflects a fundamental shift in how audiences are consuming entertainment. Micro-dramas are rapidly moving from an emerging format into the mainstream, and the decision by a major OTT platform like Vidio to bring ReelShort to its millions of viewers demonstrates the growing appetite for short-form, highly engaging storytelling. Indonesia is one of the region’s most dynamic entertainment markets. We see tremendous potential not only to expand access to our global catalogue, but also to create original stories for Indonesian audiences. Through our planned local productions with Vidio and Indonesian production partners, we look forward to combining ReelShort’s global experience in developing high-performing short-drama IP with local creative talent to build stories and franchises that resonate locally while reaching audiences across the region and beyond.”
Vidio’s growing content ecosystem also builds on its position as Indonesia’s leading SVOD platform. The latest MPA and AMPD Online Video Consumer Insights: Southeast Asia Q2 2026 report shows that Vidio holds the largest share of Indonesia’s SVOD subscriptions at 20.7%.
“Indonesia is one of the most competitive streaming markets in Southeast Asia, with strong demand for both local and international content. Vidio’s position as the platform with the largest share of SVOD subscriptions in Indonesia, at 20.7%, reflects its ability to build scale through a deep understanding of the local market, supported by strong local content and engagement across categories. This position also highlights the increasingly important role of local platforms in shaping the streaming landscape across Southeast Asia,” said Vivek Couto, CEO & Executive Director of Media Partners Asia (MPA).
Starting on September 1, thousands of ReelShort episodes will be available on Vidio via the Short Drama tab and can be accessed by Vidio subscribers on the TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra, and Ultimate packages.
