Autentic Brings a Bold New Factual Line-Up to MIPCOM 2026

September 29, 2026 by TVA Editor

Autentic is heading to MIPCOM 2026 with 67 hours of brand-new factual content, spanning current affairs, blue-chip natural history, history, science, factual entertainment and travel. Combining urgent global themes with cinematic storytelling, distinctive access and compelling characters, the Fall/Winter slate explores artificial intelligence, geopolitical change, scientific breakthroughs, and environmental pressures. It also significantly expands Autentic’s premium wildlife offering and features a growing number of original Autentic productions.

Mirjam Strasser, Director Sales & Acquisitions at Autentic, says, “This is an ambitious and highly relevant slate with strong potential across markets and platforms. From timely global issues to spectacular wildlife and character-led stories, the line-up offers buyers a broad range of distinctive programmes designed to engage international audiences.”

Current Affairs: Technology, Power and a World in Transition

AI – Humanity’s Final Invention? (52’, BR) headlines Autentic’s MIPCOM slate. Bringing together the most influential figures in modern AI, the documentary traces AI’s development from its earliest beginnings to a force capable of transforming almost every aspect of human life. At the heart of the film lies a defining question: Can humanity remain in control of the technology it has created? The current affairs slate also looks closely at changing geopolitical realities, with Ukraine’s Wartime Boom (2 × 52’, Hoferichter & Jacobs) investigating how the reconstruction of Ukraine has already begun, even as the war continues.

Nature & Wildlife: Premium Blue-Chip Stories & Never-Before-Seen Behaviour

Headlined by major productions from Terra Mater Studios and leading international producers, Autentic is significantly expanding its premium Nature & Wildlife offering for MIPCOM.

A key title is Willow – Secret Diary of a Mountain Lion (52’, Rhythm Productions, WNET Group, Terra Mater Studios). Drawing on footage captured by an extensive network of trail cameras over the course of a decade, the film reconstructs the life of a female mountain lion, offering a rare and intimate perspective on the hidden social world of this elusive predator.

The Ocean at Night (52’, Terra Mater Studios, Howard Hall Productions, Mark Fletcher Productions) enters an underwater world transformed by after dark, while Wild Cape Town (2 × 52’, Terra Mater Studios) captures the dramatic and often surprising encounters that arise as people and animals share one of the world’s most biodiverse urban environments. Lemur Diaries (3 × 52’, Terra Mater Studios, Emerge Films, Chris Scarffe Film and Photography) paints a vivid picture of the harsh reality of Madagascar’s Lemurs while intertwining tension, entertainment, humour, hope and a powerful call to awareness. Further highlights include India – Monsoon Kingdom (2 × 52’, Terra Mater Studios, Dandy Lion Films), exploring one of the most biodiverse nations and Warriors of the North (52’, Terra Mater Studios, Story Surge Films), following a young female wolverine through the immense boreal forest.

The slate also features The Archipelago (2 × 52’, Boréales), Wings and Talons – The European Birds of Prey (3 × 52’, José Luis Rodríguez Producciones), The Treasure of Newfoundland (52’, Subimagery Productions, Le cinquième rêve), Life in the Oak – A Stag Beetle Story (52’, Text + Bild Medienproduktion), Manatees – Saving Florida’s Gentle Giants (52’, Marquardt Medienproduktion), Wild Faces of Switzerland II (4 × 52’, Längengrad Filmproduktion) and Wild on a High (52’, In One Media), investigating whether humans are truly the only beings that enjoy getting high.

History: Hidden Stories Behind Defining Global Events

Secrets of Cold War Ruins (6 × 45’, Go Button Media with Autentic) uncovers abandoned military bases, hidden bunkers and forgotten infrastructure to reveal the untold stories behind one of the defining conflicts of the twentieth century. The slate also examines the era through one of its most influential political voices. Olof Palme – Vision of a Just World (52’, Autentic) revisits the life and political legacy of Sweden’s former prime minister, who challenged the global superpowers, condemned war and placed social cohesion at the centre of his political project. At a time of growing inequality and polarisation, the film asks whether his vision still holds lessons for contemporary democracies.

Science & Technology: Rethinking Nature, Humanity and the Future

Autentic’s Science & Technology slate combines major scientific ideas with accessible storytelling. Two new Autentic productions investigate the complexity of ecosystems. Ecosystems Unraveled: The Keystone Effect (52’, Autentic, DBcom) follows restoration projects across Europe and North America to examine whether reintroducing keystone species can revive entire environments, while The Secret Lives of Parasites (52’, Autentic) challenges the bad reputation of parasites and reveals organisms that may provide unexpected benefits to humans and the environment.

The Cloning Revolution (52’, Vincent Productions) examines how cloning has evolved since Dolly the sheep, while All About Hair (52’, Vincent Productions) reveals hair as a marker of identity and a potential key to future medical discoveries.

Climate change becomes tangible in Coffee vs. Climate Change (52’, NZZ), following scientists and farmers racing to develop resilient plants and new cultivation methods to safeguard one of the world’s most beloved daily rituals, while three new episodes of Good News from Planet Earth (9 × 52’, Längengrad Filmproduktion) also highlight innovative and practical solutions to global environmental challenges. Geological Wonders of Germany (3 × 52’, south&browse) uncovers the natural forces that have shaped spectacular landscapes and Home from Space (2 × 52’, Spiegel TV) tells the story of the International Space Station as an extraordinary engineering achievement and a powerful model of international cooperation.

People & Places: Powerful Human Stories & Remarkable Landscapes

Three new productions take audiences into Pakistan and the Karakoram mountains. Pakistan Express (2 × 52’, Autentic) travels from south to north aboard an old green train, revealing the country through the perspectives of the people who travel with and live along the railway, Born to Climb: Pakistan’s Female Mountaineers (45’, Autentic) follows young women pursuing professional careers in the mountains and preparing for the ultimate challenge of K2 and Tragedy on Laila Peak: Death of an Olympic Champion (52’, Autentic, ServusTV) retraces the final expedition of biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier and explores the risks, decisions and fascination of elite mountaineering.

Additional People Places highlights include The Great Loop – America’s Waterways (4 × 52’, Cocoa Film), a 10,000-kilometre journey through North America’s interconnected waterways; Mystical Magdalens: Islands of the Tides (2 × 52’, Florianfilm); Newfoundland – Shaped by the Sea (52’, MacroTele-Film); Nevada – The True Wild West (52’, streetsfilm); Garden of Eden: Iraq’s Ancient Marshlands (45’, prospect tv); Croatia’s Brijuni Islands: Tito’s Wild Legacy (52’, micafilm); Cultivated & Wild (5 × 52’, Sagamedia); and Wild Philippines – Guardians of Nature (52’, Terra Mater Studios, Catkin Media).
