Finite Films & TV partners with GB1 and North Sails for digital sailing series Challengers

May 19, 2026 by TVA Editor

Independent production company Finite Films & TV has announced the launch of its premium YouTube docuseries, Challengers, in partnership with the British America’s Cup Team, GB1, and global sportswear brand, North Sails.
Finite Films & TV joins as the production company for series 2 of Challengers, which features unrivalled access to team GB1’s intensive training regime in the build-up to the pinnacle of high-performance sailing events, The 38th America’s Cup. Following the first series in 2025, the second series will launch on GB1’s YouTube on Friday 15th May, ahead of the 2027 America’s Cup.
The series is funded by world-renowned sportswear brand North Sails. North Sails is the world’s leading sailmaker, as well as a certified B Corporation, specialising in high-performance racing and cruising sails, and premium, eco-conscious lifestyle apparel. Challengers marks a continued collaboration between Finite Films & TV and North Sails, following the launch of the production company’s original celebrity competition series Wings & Waves last year. Finite Films & TV retain production and distribution IP and format rights globally.
Series 2 of Challengers portrays a landmark moment in sporting history, following GB1, the first British sailing team in 90 years to reach the final of the America’s Cup, as they challenge again to win the world’s oldest international sporting trophy.
The docuseries delivers a cinematic, high-pressure and dramatic portrayal of elite sporting rivalry, while shining a light on the humanity, resilience and teamwork behind the campaign, led by sailing legend Ben Ainslie.
Filmed in the team’s central office in Portsmouth, and the training camps in Cagliari, Sardinia, the series follows the challenges facing the team both on and off the water. With a blend of ‘fly on the wall’ access to some of the world’s top sailing athletes, and new sailing talent from the Athena Pathway’sWomen’s and Youth America’s Cup Team, series two will feature talking head interviews and stunning sailing footage. The first Preliminary Regatta is set to take place in The Gulf of Angels, Cagliari on 21st-24th May 2026.
Executive produced by Amy Gardner, and with Paddy Hughes onboard as Creative Director, this series brings a powerhouse team with extensive experience in unscripted digital series. Hughes’ recent credits include: Jack & Dean of All Trades, Eating with my Ex and Celebrity Send Off.
Amy Gardner, Executive Producer of Challengers and Founder of Finite Films & TV says “Challengers marks our continued collaboration with North Sails and an exciting new partnership with GB1, to spotlight a whole new level of sporting excellence in a digital series. In each episode, members of the GB1 team are put through high-stakes challenges during their training, both on and off the water. There’s a huge appetite for premium access-led sports storytelling, and Challengers gives audiences a rare window into one of the most technically demanding competitions in world sport.”
Sir Ben Ainslie, GB1 Team Principal says “The America’s Cup is often cloaked in secrecy, with much of the build-up taking place behind closed doors. We wanted Challengers to change that narrative by inviting fans inside the campaign — capturing the intensity of competing at the highest level, while also revealing the human side of the journey: the pressure, sacrifice and unity required to push for success in one of the toughest competitions in sport.”
Challengers joins Finite Films & TV’s expanding unscripted slate, that aims to connect audiences with brands through authentic storytelling and entertainment. Further branded projects are set to be announced later this year.
The company’s scripted slate of high-end, internationally driven TV projects features The Many Lives of Miss K, which is in development with writer and filmmaker Sophia Al-Maria, and The Sound, which the company is developing with award-winning filmmaker Ole Bornedal. Both projects are in partnership with Shoni Productions.
Finite Films & TV’s feature film slate includes thriller MIM, written and to be directed by SXSW Grand Jury Award & Australian Directors Guild Award-winner Josephine MacKerras. Its scripted features include the upcoming feature Ben & Lucy, starring Steven Cree and directed by Cora Bissett. Finite Films & TV will coproduce the first English-language feature film from director Anu Menon, Two of Us, with Bright Pictures.
Amy Gardner is the Founder of Finite Films & TV. Gardner produced the feature film La Bohème,  written and directed by Olivier Award-winner Robin Norton-Hale. The film has been shortlisted for an Economic & Social Impact Award at the 2026 Global Production Awards. Gardner served as executive producer on Konstantina Kotzamani’s Titanic Ocean premiering in Un Certain Regard at this years Cannes Festival and Grant Gee’s Everybody Digs Bill Evans, which world premiered at Berlinale 2026 and was awarded  the Silver Bear for Best Director. Gardner also served as EP on Joy Gharoro- Akpjotor’s Dreamers, Nadia Falls’ debut feature Brides and Joshua Oppenheimer’s The End. She has produced a range of acclaimed feature films, including And Then Come the Nightjars (nominated for a 2025 Global Production Award), My House and Honeytrap. Gardner also exec produced short films Snipped by Alexander Saul and the BIFA- nominated A Sisyphean Task.
