Following a series of successful original series, films and the recent launch of its Pongal brand film featuring Jiiva and Andrea Jeremiah, Tamil ZEE5 continues to strengthen its entertainment offering for audiences across the region.
Sirai, crime courtroom drama directed by debutant Suresh Rajakumari, based on a screenplay co-written with Tamizh, who also developed the story. Produced by S.S. Lalit Kumar under the Seven Screen Studio banner, the film stars Vikram Prabhu, L.K. Akshay Kumar, Anishma Anilkumar and Anantha Thambirajah in key roles. The film marks Akshay Kumar’s acting debut and reunites Vikram Prabhu and Tamizh after their earlier collaboration on Tamizh’s directorial debut. The film is all set to premiere on the platform from 23rd January, 2026.
The film delves into the journey of a conscientious police officer as he navigates institutional challenges during a high-stakes escort mission, intertwining emotion and moral conflicts with riveting courtroom drama.
Speaking about the digital premiere, Vikram Prabhu said, “Sirai is one of the most emotionally intense films I’ve been a part of. My character is a man bound by duty, yet constantly questioning the system he serves. What excites me most is that the film will now reach a much wider audience through Tamil ZEE5. It’s a story that deserves to be experienced by viewers across regions, and OTT allows that connection to happen instantly.”
Talking about his role, LK Akshay Kumar added, “This film challenged me as an actor because my character is not defined as purely right or wrong. He exists in grey spaces, shaped by circumstances and choices. Making my debut with Sirai has been special, and knowing that it will stream on Tamil ZEE5 gives me immense joy. It’s a platform that truly values strong, content-driven cinema.”
With its focus on grounded storytelling, thrilling characters, and layered social relevance, Sirai is poised to be one of the standout Tamil films early in 2026.
