Bundesliga International signs three-year deal with Vietnamese powerhouse Viettel

August 13, 2025 by TVA Editor

The Bundesliga has a new home in Vietnam after inking a three-year deal to broadcast the best of the German league with Vietnamese telecommunications powerhouse Viettel.

Under the new agreement, TV360 – Viettel Group’s OTT platform – will exclusively broadcast all Bundesliga matches on the TV360 platform.

The biggest telco in Vietnam, Viettel currently provides mobile services to more than half of the Vietnamese population, alongside integrated broadband and enterprise solutions. With a strong commitment to sustainability, Viettel has been voted Most Valuable Brand in Vietnam for the past nine years.

From the start of the 2025-26 season – which kicks off on 22 August – all nine Bundesliga matches each Matchday will be shown on TV360 – Viettel’s PayTV channels and OTT platforms until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

Ahead of the season kick-off, Viettel will launch its Bundesliga offering by showing the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, where German cup winners VfB Stuttgart host league champions FC Bayern München in a mouth-watering clash to get fans excited for a new year of Bundesliga action.

As well as showing all the action from Germany’s top division, TV360 will spearhead Bundesliga fan engagement activities in Vietnam, including the prestigious Meisterschale trophy display, public viewing events, and exclusive promotions designed to unite football fans across the country.

The deal extends further than just broadcasting the pinnacle of German league football. Each season, Bundesliga International and Viettel will select the best two players and a coach from Hanoi-based club The Cong – Viettel FC – which is operated by the broadcaster – to train at a top club in Germany.

This builds on the Bundesliga Dream concept, which was rolled out across the APAC region and aims to give budding Asian talent a pathway to playing in Germany’s top-flight.
“This partnership with Viettel marks an exciting new chapter in our mission to bring the Bundesliga’s world-renowned football experience to fans around the globe,” said Peer Naubert, Chief Executive Officer of Bundesliga International.

“Over the past five years, the number of Bundesliga fans in Vietnam has grown by more than a third – a testament to the country’s deep passion for football, which closely reflects the values and culture of our league in Germany.

“With Viettel’s strong media presence and innovation in content delivery, we are ideally positioned to expand our reach and bring Vietnamese fans even closer to the clubs, players, and stories that make the Bundesliga so special.”

Viettel, which is state-owned, holds the largest market share of the Vietnamese telecommunications sector, with over half of the market share in mobile services and a strong footprint in broadband and enterprise solutions.

“We are proud to bring the Bundesliga – one of the world’s most prestigious football leagues – to Vietnamese fans through TV360, Viettel Group’s leading OTT platform. This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering world-class football experiences and creating new opportunities for Vietnamese talents to connect with top clubs in Germany,” said Ms. Nguyễn Hà Thành, Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom Corporation.
The Bundesliga is one of the most active European sporting properties in Vietnam, where both league and clubs work together alongside local stakeholders to support the development of football at all levels.

Football ties between Germany and Vietnam were strengthened in 2022 when the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and the Vietnamese Football Federation (VFF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was extended in February 2025.

Furthermore, the women’s team from SV Werder Bremen played a friendly against the Vietnam national team in May 2025 in Hanoi, while Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig hosted the Vietnamese women’s team in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Borussia Dortmund played a friendly match against the Vietnam men’s national team on their mid-season Asia Tour in 2022.
