StarHub announces return of Discovery HD and HGTV

October 2, 2023 by TVA Editor

From 1 October, customers can look forward to quality factual and lifestyle entertainment as StarHub announces the relaunch of Discovery HD and HGTV channels.

Aligned with StarHub’s commitment to provide world-class entertainment to our customers, Discovery HD and HGTV will join the already-extensive StarHub TV+ line-up of content options from Warner Bros. Discovery that include CNN International, Cartoonito, Cartoon Network, HBO, HBO On Demand, HBO Signature, HBO Family, HBO Hits and Cinemax. Subscribers can also access WBD’s streaming service HBO GO. This ensures that customers always have an option regardless of their interests, preferences or moods.

“We are super-excited to explore content that can broaden our viewers’ entertainment options and are thrilled to expand our slate of high-quality channels with the launch of Discovery HD and HGTV, two popular channels from the Warner Bros. Discovery network. Both are great additions to our Entertainment+ channels, and a welcome sight for StarHub customers who are fans of both non-fiction and home-centric lifestyle content,” said Johan Buse, Chief, Consumer Business Group, StarHub.

Shonali Bedi, Head of Affiliate Distribution & Digital Partnerships – Southeast Asia & Hong Kong, Warner Bros. Discovery, added: “The return of two of our most popular channels on StarHub TV means that an even wider audience in Singapore can enjoy the perfect lean-back TV experience. Featuring premium global series such as Property Brothers, Good Bones, Gold Rush and Deadliest Catch, WBD’s widened portfolio of channels on StarHub TV now spans all genres – from drama, movies and factual to kids, family entertainment and news.

Discovery HD and HGTV will be available to new, and existing Entertainment+ customers at no additional cost. With an Entertainment+ pass ($30.28/month with a two-year contract), customers can now enjoy high-quality, non-fiction programming from Discovery HD, and fans of home-centric, feel-good content can enjoy a full suite of programmes on HGTV, along with many of the latest dramas and award-winning documentaries and programmes from over 30 English lifestyle channels. Customers can also watch their favourite Entertainment+ channel anytime, at home or on-the-go, on any device with the StarHub TV+ app.

Discovery HD (Ch. 422)

As the home of hit factual and lifestyle entertainment across nature, science, technology and history genres, Discovery HD airs popular programmes such as Bering Sea Gold, Homestead Rescue as well as cult-favourite Deadliest Catch – the 19th season is currently premiering on the channel. Other upcoming highlights include The Curious Case of Natalia Grace Season 1 of the stranger-than-fiction true crime series, which begins on October 6 at 10pm.

HGTV (Ch. 437)

Fans of home décor, interior design, remodelling and other home-centric entertainment will be able to get inspired through back-to-back, easy lean-back programming on HGTV. An acronym for “Home & Garden Television”, the channel airs popular programmes including Flipping 101 with Tarek Moussa 100 Day Dream Home and Buy It Or Build It. Season 3 of the hit HGTV competition series Battle on the Beach premieres on October 6 at 10pm.
