For Series Mania, which takes place in Lille from March 21st to 23rd, Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) has brought 5 projects to the Pitching Session: Stories and Voices from Taiwan, while, in its Taiwan Pavilion, 32 companies are offering 73 projects both completed and in development for consideration by international producers and financiers. IP Pitch: Book to Screen has also selected Ching Ling Foo: The Second Greatest Magician of All Time, to present alongside four other international titles.
Following an MOU signed last year with Series Mania making TAICCA an official partner, both parties selected 5 projects with international appeal. These were pitched at the ‘Stories and Voices from Taiwan – Spotlight on Upcoming Projects and Their Producers’ on March 21st. The five projects were: Bubble Battle (Pixelfly Digital Effects), The Brides Town (Studio 76), MORAKOT (MA Studio), Cry Me Through Hell (Starry Eyes Productions) and JUDOKA (Renegades Entertainment), which was selected by Series Mania last November during Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF). The teams behind the 5 projects also attended the Creative Bazaar for masterclasses and pitch training ahead of the pitching session. There were also one-to-one meetings and a follow-up reception for international industry professionals to network and foster collaboration.
With increasing demand for series content from international OTT platforms, Taiwan not only holds a strategic position to access Chinese-speaking markets but also offers government investment and location shooting support, making it one of the best co-production partners in Asia. Both Series Mania and TAICCA share a vision of getting beyond a limited focus on trade to enriching the global audiovisual ecosystem. Through exchange visits from representatives of both sides and joint project selection for the pitching forum, close collaboration furthers the connection of Taiwan’s industry to its international partners. Following this strategic partnership with Series Mania, Taiwanese companies can access international co-production and funding networks while international buyers and OTT operators can access Taiwanese productions through TCCF, together raising the global visibility of Taiwan content.
As part of the official selection for Book to Screen, author Chang Kuo-Li’s Ching Ling Foo: The Second Greatest Magician of All Time, will be presented by The Grayhawk Agency at the pitching session, further elevating original Taiwanese IP on the international stage.
At the Taiwan Pavilion, 32 Taiwanese companies, including MirrorFiction, Each Other Films, Select Entertainment, TVBS Media and YOO SONN Entertainment, offer 73 completed series and projects, including legal drama Port of Lies, sci-fi romance On Marriage, suspense mystery Not a Murder Story, and Million Follower Detective starring Hong Kong actor Ekin Cheng.
Held in Lille, Series Mania is an international industry event dedicated to series. Created in 2010 by Forum des Images in Paris and supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the 8 day event has over 100 screenings alongside world premiere, masterclass, forum and networking events.
