Abacus Media Rights has secured worldwide distribution rights to Alexia, Labor Omnia Vincit, (excluding USA, Latin America, Spain, Portugal and Andorra), filmed with English sub-titles.
Will Stapley, Head of Acquisitions at AMR comments, “This is a stunning and stylistically shot series recounting the rise of one of the world’s most popular and iconic sports stars and her role in helping grow the popularity of women’s football. Far more than a standard fly-on-the-wall documentary, it tells the inspiring story of Alexia’s dedication to become the best of the best from such an early age as well as revealing the hardships she has overcome in her life. We’re excited to take the show out to market in time for the Women’s FIFA World Cup, this summer.”
Javier Martínez, Director of Originals at YOU FIRST adds, “This is the kind of project we are passionate about at YOU FIRST ORIGINALS, telling great stories that allow us to take advantage of our privileged access to top talent and build a global story in a once-in-a-lifetime moment marked by the women’s soccer revolution.”
Alexia: Labor Omnia Vincit features candid footage of the player preparing for matches, training at the football ground and getting ready for the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, and features Alexia’s mother, Eli Segura, who talks about how her family made many sacrifices to find a girls’ team for her, Sabadell, a city in the province of Barcelona, a commute that her parents had to fit in around their work for the then eight-year-old rising football star.
