With the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival approaching in mid-February, anticipation is high for iQIYI original series Why Try To Change Me Now, which is set to premiere at the festival on February 21, and launch globally on iQIYI on February 26.
The 6-episode series made news earlier this year as the first Asian drama series to be selected in the Berlinale Series, a section of the Berlin International Film Festival to spotlight “outstanding new series productions from around the world”. As part of the selected series, Why Try to Change Me Now will also be competing for the inaugural Berlinale Series Award.
The series stars Dong Zijian, Hai Qing, Qiu Tian, Dong Baoshi, Zhang Chen, Liang Jingdong, and Wang Zheng.
Besides Why Try To Change Me Now, another iQIYI series that is making waves among viewers is crime drama The Knockout, which stars Zhang Ze, Zhang Songwen, Li Yitong, Zhang Zhijian, and Wu Gang.
The Knockout, which follows the 20-year long battle of a policeman An Xin (played by Zhang Ze) against a mafia gang led by the Gao family brothers, has made waves in China since its premiere, clinching the top spot in multiple viewership charts across the nations. The series even resulted in the sales of the classic military manual The Art of War, which was heavily featured in the show, to increase by over 50 times within a week in China.
Furthermore, audiences can look forward to iQIYI’s 2023 Light On slate for an array of exciting content to enjoy throughout 2023 – including investigative crime series surrounding unresolved mysteries from the past in the vein of Why Try To Change Me Now, with Echo and Thirteen Years of Dust.
