Abacus Media Rights (AMR), an Amcomri Entertainment company, has sold multi award-winning CBC/HBO MAX Original comedy series Sort Of Season 1 (8 x 30’) to Netflix in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

AMR has also secured sales for Deadline, Pulse, H.M. The Queen: A Remarkable Life; Philip: Prince, Husband, Father, Queen Elizabeth: A Lifetime of Service, The Masked Dancer season 2 and Titans of Tech, to Rock Entertainment in Asia, and Line of Duty seasons 1-5 to Pumpkin Film (China Ruyi HK0136) in China.

Pooja Nirmal Kant, Co-Founder and CEO at Still Road Media who brokered the deals for AMR comments, “We are delighted that the multi award-winning drama Sort Of and a number of very relevant and absorbing factual series have been picked up for the Asian market, where we have already had great success selling a range of drama, entertainment and factual programming.”

Sort Of, produced by Sienna Films, a Sphere Media company, with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, is created by Bilal Baig (Acha Bacha) and Fab Filippo (Save Me), who also serve as showrunners and executive producers.  The dramatic comedy sees Sabi Mehboob (Baig), a fluid millennial who straddles various identities from sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore/bar, to the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family.

Deadline (4 x 60’), a Clapperboard Studios production, is a mystery thriller full of labyrinthine plotting, bewildering twists and dark characters; Pulse (6 x 60’), produced by Media Musketeers is a sci-fi, horror, original survival thriller set in Johannesburg which sees a group of video game designers trying to survive without the technology that defines their way of life, H.M. The Queen: A Remarkable Life (1 x 50’), from Odyssey Television and Imagicians Television, goes behind the surface to evoke the character of a modest but truly great Queen; in Philip: Prince, Husband, Father (1 x 60’), produced by Factual Fiction, we hear Prince Philip talk about his family, the monarchy, the environment, media intrusion, Prince Charles’ future… topics hugely relevant today; Queen Elizabeth: A Lifetime of Service (1 x 50’), by Odyssey Television, Imagicians Television and Infinity Television, looks back at the long reign of Queen Elizabeth who has seen astonishing social changes in Britain and the world; The Masked Dancer (15 x 90’ seasons 1 & 2), a Bandicoot Scotland Limited production, features mystery celebrities performing unique dances whilst covered from head-to-toe in extravagant, colourful and elaborate costumes and masks, leaving audiences and a star panel to guess their identities, and Titans of Tech (4 x 60’), a unique documentary strand about the lives of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg. Line of Duty, set in the fictional police anti-corruption unit AC-12, is a cat-and-mouse thriller that takes a probing look into modern policing and corruption. Produced by World Productions and written by Jed Mercurio.
