European executive production company Media Musketeers will attend MIPCOM with a slate of six key titles, including Pulse, Un Prophète, The Paradise, Essex County, Crimson Crown and Faithless.
The company, which finances and co-produces high-end TV series and films, is working with ITV Studios, Abacus Media Rights and MediaPro and others to distribute these titles around the world.
Sebastien Janin, Managing Partner Media Musketeers, said of the slate, “We are excited to bring these high-end, cinematic, international drama productions to market. We are looking forward to meeting buyers and co-production partners in Cannes to discuss these, alongside other new, ambitious projects, with a view to growing Media Musketeers’ slate in 2023 and 2024.”
Media Musketeers’ Mipcom lineup:
Pulse (6×52’) A dark, survival thriller written by Stephen R. Clarke, directed by Sallas de Jager, produced by Primetime Emmy winner Steve Lanning, with visual effects led by award-winning Hilton Treves. PULSE is a co-production with UK-based ForLan Films, MultiChoice, Canal+ International and The Mediapro Studio. Following its recent premiere release by Showmax across Africa, the show has now been picked up in the U.S. by Viacom International for BET+ and across South East Asia by Rock Entertainment.
Un Prophète (8×52’) The highly anticipated reimagining for television of the iconic BAFTA, Grand Prix, César-winning and Oscar-nominated Jacques Audiard film. A Media Musketeers co-production with Paris-based CPB Films, in association with Orange Studios, the film’s original writing and production team of Abdel Raouf Dafri, Nicolas Peufaillit, and Marco Cherqui have re-grouped after 13 years, to develop and co-produce the television reboot alongside Media Musketeers.
The Paradise Season Two (8×52’) A Nordic crime thriller set in Spain and Finland returns for a second season. Season one received the highest ratings for YLE, and actress Riitta Havukainen was awarded ‘Best Actress’ in the Finnish Kultainen Venla Awards. Season two reprises the key characters of Season one, delivering an old school thriller that has high production quality and great international in appeal. Media Musketeers will be in Cannes to continue the successful distribution of The Paradise, which has already been sold in the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Eire, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
Essex County (5×52’) In this vividly rendered , and compelling drama, dreams, memories, and imagination pervade small town life to explore an extended family’s struggle as they grapple with a history of loss, betrayal, and lovein the series adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed graphic novel. Produced by First Generation Media as a CBC Original, and co-distributed by Media Musketeers and ITV Studios. Essex County is show-run by Jeff Lemire, directed by Primetime Emmy winner, Andrew Cividino (Schitts Creek) and is set to deliver in Q1 2023
Crimson Crown (6 x 52’) The first TV series from the Italian master of horror, Dario Argento transports the audience to an enchanted island in the Mediterranean, in which dwells an unspeakable evil. Crimson Crown tells the story of four estranged friends who as young teens made a secret pregnancy pact and reunite years later to protect their own daughters from a murderous hunter who knows their dark past. The island is as beautiful as it is sinister as missing teenagers turn up dead in this distinctive kaleidoscope of iconic horror. Crimson Crown is a Media Musketeers co-production with Italy based, Iervolino Entertainment
Faithless (6×30’) A dark comedy drama from Emmy-winning Irish comedian and actor Baz Ashmawy. Faithless follows three young sisters living in Dublin and their lovable Irish/Egyptian Dad, who, after a tragic accident, finds himself having to raise his three daughters alone. That is until his irresponsible younger brother moves in ‘to help’ and never leaves. The series, which starts shooting in Q1 2023 is co-developed and co-produced with Grand Pictures and Virgin Media Ireland.
