BBC Studios and South Korean IPTV service provider KT Corporation is to renew their partnership for Kids Land Nature Encyclopedia Series 3 featuring Pororo, the Little Penguin as the main narrator of BBC Studios natural history content. The series serves as complementary content to the BBC Studios premium natural history documentaries hosted on Olleh TV and will showcase the addition of two titles, namely, Wild Metropolis and Animal Babies: First Year On Earth, along with its original suite of titles from the BBC Studios Natural History unit.
Kids Land Nature Encyclopedia Series was originally launched in 2020 as a pilot project between BBC Studios and KT Corporation. It premiered on Olleh TV and was well-received by audiences ranking consistently as one of the top 10 programmes during 2021. Kids Land Nature Encyclopedia Series combines live-action footage gathered from BBC Studios natural history documentaries with animated narration by Iconix’s Pororo and aims to cultivate cognitive, observational and inquiry skills in young children. Building on the success of the pilot, Series 2 focussed on programmes such as Shark and Shark: Beneath The Surface and was titled ‘Kids Land Nature Encyclopedia: Shark Expedition’. Series 3 will feature Wild Metropolis and Animal Babies: First Year On Earth where each episode is 5 minutes in duration with a total of 20 episodes.
Phil Hardman, SVP and General Manager for BBC Studios Asia said, “We are excited to continue our partnership with KT Corporation where we aim to entertain and educate a family audience by bringing together world class factual content from BBC Studios with Iconix’s ever popular Pororo. As the BBC marks its centenary year, we are proud of the deep relationships established with our partners. We will continue to work with them to find innovative and meaningful ways to connect with audiences across Asia.” KT Corporation stated, “Kids Land Nature Encyclopedia has established itself as a popular, steady representative of the Kids Land franchise. We are delighted to work with a reputable partner like BBC Studios to produce this series and hope this collaboration will continue for a long time to come, enabling us to consistently provide high-quality content to children.’
