Suka, a feature-length production, begins principal photography in Sydney this week.
The Multicultural Australian cast is led by Jenny Wu (Australia Day) and Paul He (Shang Chi) together with Grace Huang (The Man with the Iron Fists), Ethan Browne (Home and Away) and Tsu Shan Chambers (Unsound).
Director is Heidi Lee Douglas (Devil Woman), Co-Writer is Lily Cheng (Huli Jing) and Chambers is co-writer and producer.
Described by Chambers as an “Asian-Australian Night In Paradise meets My Name and Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”, Suka is a story of forbidden love, family intrigue and thrilling action sequences.
“Bold, racy and action-packed, SUKA is a multi-cultural Romeo and Juliet revenge tragedy about choices and consequences – it’s one of a kind to be led by an all-female team, developed and shot right here in Australia,” Chambers says.
The all-female creative team of genre lovers includes the only accredited female stunt coordinator in New South Wales, Jackie Murray.
US distributor and Sales Agent is Synergetic, with the film to feature on their Darkroom Streaming (darkroom.film) platform, with Creamsource acting as Executive Producers (Mark Naidoo), together with US Producer Franco Sama (Guns, Girls & Gambling). Mind the Gap Film Finance is also supporting the team.
