Abacus Media Rights (AMR), an Amcomri Entertainment company, has secured worldwide distribution rights for The Frontier, a high-end factual series created and produced by Emmy®-nominated Daniel Sharp at Dash Pictures.
Financed by Amcomri Productions, The Frontier is a lavish 6 x 60’ documentary series which will dispel the legends of the Wild West.
With filming currently taking place in Texas USA, each episode of The Frontier is carefully crafted from a compelling mix of cinematic reconstructions, modern-day interviews with leading experts, and accompanied by state-of-the-art cinematic graphics and maps, sound design and music.
The Frontier will explore the legends, events and folklore of the American frontier which have embedded themselves into our culture so much so that the Old West, especially the Western genre of films, has become one of the defining periods of American national identity. Hollywood movies would have us believe cowboys and Indians frequently fought each other in the Wild West, that all cowboys were white, that Native Americans were savage and violent without provocation and that all sheriffs were law-abiding citizens. The Frontier will expose the shocking reality behind these myths.
Jonathan Ford, Managing Director at AMR comments, “Dash Pictures has developed a distinctive and engaging unscripted series which will take the viewer into an all-immersive adventure into a fascinating part of history. While we think we know what it was like to live in the Wild West through the cowboy films we’ve all seen, this documentary will expose the real dangers, heartbreak, struggle and the bravery that was shouldered by so many to build America.”
Robert Price, CEO of Amcomri Entertainment, says, “We are extremely pleased to have greenlit this fascinating series from factual experts Dash Pictures. Daniel has a unique ability to bring the past alive in a way that captivates viewers, and which will appeal to AMR’s strong client base around the world.”
Daniel Sharp adds, “The history of the Frontier is a tale of conquest, but also one of survival, persistence, and the merging of peoples and cultures that gave birth and continuing life to America. We are thrilled to be bringing this gripping story to life.”
