Asia’s leading streaming service iQiyi celebrates Pride Month this June as its ongoing Thai BL (Boy Love) series KinnPorsche continues to attract audiences globally, most recently hitting a high 9.2 rating on IMDb. At the same time, iQiyi announces a new BL series Check Out, which will premiere on June 12.
In line with Pride Month, the stars of KinnPorsche, “Apo” Nattawin Wattanagitiphat and “Mile” Phakphum Romsaithong have recorded a video to thank their fans for the support and to celebrate Pride Month alongside their audiences and members of the LGBT community that have found KinnPorsche to be a relatable series that is representative of them and the struggles they may face.
“I think that the way that these characters (in KinnPorsche) stay true to their feelings is very important,” said Mile in the video, while Apo added, “I think KinnPorsche the series is accounting for the reality of society.”
Besides KinnPorsche, BL fans can look forward to another addition on iQiyi with the announcement of Check Out, another Thai BL series which will premiere on June 12, 2022.
The series has already proven its popularity, with its pilot episode titled “Episode 0” reaching over 7 million views online. It has been praised for its “tasteful, artistic presentation of mature scenes”, and its production technique as well as the charm of the characters.
Check Out stars “Chahub” Marut Ghoummeddin and “Best” Vittawin Veeravidhayanant in lead roles, and is directed by Kapper Worarit Ninklom.
The series follows Dao Nuea, a working-age man that has just broken up with his first love. While on vacation, he meets Nine, a man who improves his mood despite a short meeting. Dao Nuea tries to forget about Nine by returning to his old life where he works with Tee, his ex-boyfriend who wishes to rekindle their relationship.
When their business starts to fail, it is discovered that Nine is Tee’s former schoolmate, and he decides to help out at their business. Dao Nuea desperately wants to go back to Nine, but he is also reluctant as Nine as an on-and-off girlfriend. Despite all the obstacles they face, Dao Nuea and Nine eventually clear up their issues and accept that they have both fallen in love with each other.
