Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming service, presents its strategically curated content lineup for Q2, bringing to Viu-ers fresh, highly anticipated and star-studded Asian entertainment. New drama titles include Korean series Doom at Your Service, Sell Your Haunted House, The Penthouse 3, Voice 4, and Devil’s Judgement, Chinese period drama The Long Ballad and four simulcast Japanese anime series including the latest season of the global hit franchise My Hero Academia.
Headlining the titles is Viu’s second Korean Viu Original, romance drama Doom at Your Service, premiering in May. It tells the story of Dong Kyung, a web novel editor who is diagnosed with brain cancer. Blaming her unlucky life and wishing to curse everything to disappear, she unintentionally summons Myul Mang, a messenger between humans and gods to appear. When he unexpectedly offers to grant her wishes, she makes a contract with him for a hundred days to live as she wants, risking everything in the process. A-list Korean actress Park Bo Young has captivated viewers with memorable roles such as the titular Bong Soon in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, stars as Dong Kyung in this captivating series. Singer-turned-actor Seo In Gook, who stars as Myul Mang, reunites with second male lead Lee Soo Hyuk after the two starred in the drama High School King of Savvy and recently collaborated on the upcoming movie Pipeline. Doom at Your Service is penned by the same scriptwriter behind light-hearted fantasy drama The Beauty Inside and directed by Kwon Young Il whose previous work includes well-received titles like Suits, Search: WWW and My Unfamiliar Family.
Coming to Viu-ers first-on-Viu, supernatural drama Sell Your Haunted House follows Hong Ji Ah, the beautiful and intelligent owner of a real estate agent who has a special ability to see and exorcise spirits. Hence, her agency focuses on acquiring troubled properties to flip a profit from them. She meets Oh In Bum, a quick-witted con-artist who does not believe in the existence of ghosts but uses them to scam others out of their wealth. Veteran actress Jang Na Ra, beloved in Asia and known for top-rated titles like Couple on the Backtrack, An Empress’ Dignity and V.I.P., plays Hong Ji Ah. The series, directed by PD Park Jin Suk (School 2017), also stars lead singer of K-pop boy band CNBLUE, Jung Yong Hwa, with fans anticipating his performance in his first drama after military discharge back in 2019.
Viu is also pleased to announce that the widely popular drama series The Penthouse which has topped not just Viu’s ranking charts but also created phenomenal ratings in Korea, will continue with its third season in June. The series, also first on Viu, is set to continue keeping the audience glued to their TV, mobile and PC screens as it continues the dramatic journey of three women fueled by revenge, greed and desire, in their fight for the symbolic penthouse in Hera Palace.
Returning for a fourth season in June, Voice 4 follows the Golden Time team as they solve urgent real-time incidents received through phone calls on the emergency service line, bringing to Viu-ers the adrenaline-charged action. In this season, the team will be set in Jeju Island, famous for its tourist attractions. New to the cast are top actor Song Seung Heon (The Player, Black, Obsessed) who plays a LAPD unit leader set to bring new synergy to the team, and Lee Ha Na who plays a charismatic director of Crime Report Center suffering from PTSD since she lost two of her partners in previous missions.
Legal drama Devil’s Judgement centers on a chief judge who does not believe in judgment and makes rulings to satisfy the public until an assistant judge starts to question his motives and steps in to search for the truth. The show features Ji Sung (Dr. John, Kill Me Heal Me, Innocent Defendant), Park Gyu Young, and Jin Young of the K-pop group GOT7.
The highly anticipated Chinese drama The Long Ballad starring top China actress Dilraba Dilmurat is now showing on Viu in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Directed by Chu Yui Bun (Eternal Love of Dream, Ashes of Love) and adapted from a popular Chinese comic of the same name, the story follows Li Chang Ge, a princess whose family was murdered in a coup. To exact revenge on the new emperor, she takes the guise of a man and enlists in the army, eventually becoming a captain of an army. However, as the Eastern Turkic Khaganate attacks her army, their general Ashile Sun known to be undefeatable on the battlefield captures her. Despite knowing her true identity, he forces her to serve as their military strategist. Will their romance blossom and thrive amidst the politics and schemes between the Royal Empire and ambitious tribes?
Four Japanese anime titles will also be available this April in selected markets within 24 hours from Japan. Titles include The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Slime Diaries, a spin-off of the That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime series which is also available on Viu; I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, a gagcomedy isekai title; Zombie Land Saga Revenge, a unique zombified take on the idol genre; and season five of the popular shonen anime title My Hero Academia.
