Eccho Rights will distribute the brand new Turkish Drama series Chrysalis in the International market, with a range of launch activities scheduled for this Spring season. Produced by OGM Pictures, the series will premiere on Turkey’s Kanal D at the end of March 2021.
Chrysalis is the story of Nalan, a young woman full of hope, seeking happiness and love in a world that confronts her with difficulties at every turn. Despite these many obstacles, Nalan remains determined to blossom as she grows in her career, her romantic life, and into adulthood.
“This is a coming of age story that will feel very familiar to a lot of women around the world, but is particularly relatable given the timing of its release, as the world looks forward to emerging from the sense of captivity that so many of us have experienced during the pandemic,” says Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.
Chrysalis is based on the novel ‘Camdaki Kız’ (The Girl in the Window) by Dr Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu, and is the latest collaboration between OGM Pictures and the writer, whose books have inspired earlier successes My Home My Destiny and The Red Room.
“Nalan is another fascinating character from Dr Budayıcıoğlu, whose rich experiences as a psychotherapist have given her the insight to create stories that immediately feel relatable, which is why we’ve had such success adapting her writing for TV audiences,” says Onur Günetanam.
Chrysalis stars award-winning actress Burcu Biricik (Fatma, Flames of Desire, Kuzgun) as Nalan, opposite Feyyaz Şerifoğlu as romantic interest Sedat. The series also features a host of renowned Turkish Drama actors including Tamer Levent (Brave and Beautiful, Evermore), Şerıf Erol (Woman, The Teacher), Selma Ergeç (Magnificent Century), and Devrim Yakut (Brave and Beautiful).
Production company OGM Pictures is behind a string of recent television hits including The Red Room, My Home My Destiny as well as Netflix Originals The Gift and upcoming movie Paper Lives.
