Premier dramatic actor Dingdong Dantes once again renewed his contract with GMA Network in a signing ceremony on April 22. It was also revealed during the contract signing that the actor will top bill the much-awaited Philippine adaptation of the popular Korean drama series Descendants of the Sun.
Dingdong Dantes has been with GMA since he started his acting career 21 years go. In an Instagram post, he paid tribute to the GMA where he spent more than half of his life. It is also where he met his now wife, actress Marian Rivera after starring in the hit Philippine remake of Marimar. Dingdong also headlined many notable drama series including The Other Mrs. Real, Bow of Justice, and his latest project, Color of My Blood.
GMA Network President and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon expressed gratitude to the actor: “Dingdong is truly one of our home-grown talents. He embodies what GMA stands for: quality, professionalism, integrity and above all, heart.”
Dingdong intends to do more work behind the camera as a creative consultant and director for GMA Films. For now, he is focusing on his upcoming project, Descendants of the Sun. “More than (being) physically prepared, I’m emotionally, spiritually prepared, since this is a very special project. I am really happy that GMA entrusted this to me,” the actor said.
Details about the remake are still under wraps, but fans have been clamouring for Dingdong’s wife, Marian to play the female lead.
