PARIS – On September 15, French channel RMC Sport inaugurated its new premises at Quadrans with the return of the Premier League to its portfolio. Equipped with 7 HD Studios, including one with more than 200 m2 with an audience, the new media headquarters in the heart of the Altice Campus is a unique site with state-of-the-art equipment and with unpublished sets especially in the realm of 3D virtual reality and augmented reality.
As part of this massive relocation process French company Altice and in particular channel RMC Sports invested heavily in new ViBox systems from Simplylive. To establish a nice and smooth production workflow and to be as flexible as possible during live-mode, RMC Sports selected Simplylive’s ViBox All-in-one production solution.
RMC Sport, now owning several content rights to broadcast European and international sports, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and much more, RMC Sport invested on a large scale in the new facility and the productions. Together with the matches, RMC will produce interviews, corner talks, discussions etc. and was looking for a solution that is state-of-the-art and gives them maximum flexibility.
Therefore, being a decisive part of the studio infrastructure, RMC Sports invested in six ViBox8 – Mini and two ViBox8 systems. The six ViBox8 – Mini systems are used for the production of the UEFA matches, branding them to the RMC look and feel and for editing purposes. One of the two ViBox8 systems is deployed in the RMC Sport Corner studio to cut the talk shows while the second is used for the production of sports news for BFM TV and BFM Business channels.
Luc Pannier, head of content, production and operations at RMC Sports on the decision to use ViBox: “As part of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup evening shows, the overall production scheme, the Europa League and many other sports competitions for which we acquired the rights, we were looking for an integrated solution for our new production center in Paris. The task was to support our directors and editors to make our channels a vibrant experience. The Vibox solution from Simplylive appeared to us as a natural choice, as simplified production is at the heart of the dynamics of our sports channels as well as in the News (BFM TV).”
The All-in-one approach and the ease of use help RMC Sport react to every possible situation during the live production. The system’s overall approach to include several workflows into one system (production in a box, handling multiple sources, replays, Gfx plus complex audio recall possibilities) made the ViBox solution the obvious choice for RMC Sport and a real game-changer.
Antoine Robelin, Technical Director, Groupe Next Radio (Altice Group Media Brand), adds to the technological aspects: “We conducted long phases of tests on several products, also more conventional ones and pushed the ViBox really hard, especially with regard to the audio configurations that had to be adapted to our different TV channel constraints, but the system excelled perfectly. With ViBox we have now a fantastic solution that we also selected for our new News cell for BFM TV”.
At the IBC show in Amsterdam, Simplylive will premiere the ViBox Mini versions of its All-in-one production solution. The Mini is the new compact and powerful member of the ViBox product family. For all applications, such as the ViBox live production system, SloMo or Ref&Box there is a Mini version available with 4 or 8 channels. This portable, high-quality solution makes it even easier to dip into live productions. With its small form-factor as well as innovative workflows and functions it is the only tool users need to produce cutting-edge content without thinking about the technology behind. Although defined by a small form factor and significant cost advantages, ViBox Mini represents the high quality and professional approach, typical of all Simplylive products. The combination makes ViBox Mini the perfect entry-level model for smaller companies and productions.
Simplylive will be at IBC Show 2018 in Amsterdam (14-18 September 2018) at 3.B19.
