Mediacorp, host broadcaster for the DPRK-USA Singapore Summit on 12 June, will provide complete broadcast services to support global media in covering the historic event between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and President of the United States of America Donald Trump.
Beyond providing broadcasting services, Mediacorp’s news platforms, led by Channel NewsAsia, will provide comprehensive coverage in four languages for audiences in Singapore and the region.
Host Broadcaster
Mediacorp will operate the Broadcast Centre within the International Media Centre, which is expected to house over 2500 local and foreign journalists covering the event. The Broadcast Centre provides a complete range of broadcast services and facilities.
These include the live feed distribution and monitoring system, indoor and outdoor live presentation services and media booth space with editing facilities. Over 250 Mediacorp staff are on ground comprising engineering, production services and news personnel, working round the clock to ensure that the quality of broadcast services and facilities is world class.
News coverage and programmes
Mediacorp’s regional news channel, Channel NewsAsia, and its vernacular news teams in Channel 8, Vasantham, Suria, digital platforms (channelnewasia.com and todayonline.com) and radio stations (958FM and 938NOW) have, in the days leading up to the summit, been providing timely coverage. Over 300 journalists including reporters and editors from Mediacorp’s newsroom in Singapore and its overseas bureaus will be bringing viewers round-the-clock coverage of the momentous events as they unfurl.
Special programmes include Path to Peace, a geo-political analysis leading up to the Summit and Prep and Buzz Pre-Summit which looks at the media centre, social media and the public buzz leading up to the Summit.
